Made with a little sugar or honey, they are also a slightly sweet treat. Oats are nutritionally rich and packed full of protein and antioxidants. High levels of manganese, phosphorus, magnesium, copper and zinc are also present. Nuts and seeds are high in protein and good fats (when eaten in moderation) and also provide the body with slow released energy to sustain you throughout the day.

Yoghurt with Granola

With a combination of jumbo oats, seeds, berry Greek yoghurt, fruit, chia seeds and nuts, this simple little jar packs a nutritional punch. The carbohydrates in the fruit and granola provide a quick energy boost, while the fats in the nuts and seeds keep energy levels sustained. Yoghurt contains protein, calcium and some B vitamins, as well as probiotics which can enhance the gut microbiota. Research shows that having healthy gut microbiota can boost the immune system and aids digestion and the production of certain vitamins.

Avocado on Toast

Avocados are a bit of a nutritional powerhouse. Delicious and versatile, the little green fruit is packed full of minerals such as iron, copper and potassium and are a good source of the B vitamin, folate. Many of these minerals are difficult to find in other foods but should be part of a balanced diet. Furthermore, avocados have a low saturated fat content.

You could consider adding a poached egg or a rasher of bacon to your avocado on toast. Eggs are a fantastic source of protein and selenium, vitamin D, B6, B12 and minerals such as zinc, iron and copper. Poaching eggs is the healthiest way to cook them as poaching involves using no oil, butter or fat in the cooking process. Bacon, when consumed sparingly, can still provide protein and Vitamins B1, B2, B3, B5, B6 and B12, so consider it as a special treat!

Vegan Sausage Roll

Don’t knock it until you try it! Our vegan sausage rolls are freshly baked and enjoyed by our customers across the board, non-vegans included. A great alternative to the pork-based classic, a vegan sausage roll typically contains more protein. In addition, there is less saturated fat and carbohydrates in the vegan version. Beans on Bloomer

Baked beans can provide a surprising amount of protein and fibre. Protein is essential to the body and helps to build and repair tissues and create enzymes and hormones. It is also one of the most crucial building blocks for muscles, bones, cartilage, skin and blood. Another benefit of protein is that it helps us to feel fuller for longer, which is great for those who are trying to cut down. Fibre contributes to a healthy digestive system and research suggests that those who include a balanced amount of fibre in their diets are at a reduced risk of cardiovascular disease and bowel cancer.
