We have a winner!
Congratulations to Zorana Simic, from Esquires Shepherds Bush, for winning our Barista of the Year competition 2012.
The contest, which was held at Esquires Coventry, saw Esquires baristas from across the UK battling it out for the coveted title. Using their talent, skills and passion for coffee, each barista was asked to create a signature drink that would impress a panel of industry specialists and, for the fourth year running, the competition was extremely fierce!
Showcasing her creative flair and technical know-how, Zorana wowed the judges with a drink that she cleverly named the Oreo Penguinccino!
Featuring a double shot of espresso, a shot of vanilla syrup, two teaspoons of blended Oreo and a creamy macchiato-style froth, Zorana’s drink was packed with depth and flavour. Plus, it almost looked like a penguin too!
Speaking about the contest she said:
“I really enjoy experimenting and creating new and exciting drinks to try. It’s what I love about my job; that and the great people you get to meet too.
“I came up with several options before deciding on my final recipe and I was ever so surprised when my drink proved the most popular with the judges. It’s a fantastic achievement to have won against such stiff competition and I look forward to making my drink for our local customers back in Shepherds Bush.”

Esquires Shepherds Bush has arrived…and didn’t we do well. This is the first of our new shop designs and we feel very proud. It is located opposite the Shepherds Bush tube station and Westfield.
